Malachite is found throughout the world, but generally in small quantities. Related to Chrysocolla, it gets its coloring from copper. Its is various shades of green in banding through the stone. It has ancient roots in Egypt being used in jewelry and other ornamentation, including being pulverized for use as make-up. It is easily one of the most recognizable of the semi-precious gemstones today.
