Labradorite is named after Labrador (Canada), which is the primary location for deposits. It is popular for use in jewelry due to the colorful play of light ("schiller") which can be observed glowing across the stone. this effect is also referred to as "labradorescence".
Folklore/Metaphysical Properties: This seems to be a very popular stone among "metaphysically inclined" people (of which I am one). Some of the many things which have been attributed to this stone are: it helps to center one; stimulates the brain and provides clarity of thought and balance; it dispells negativity; it facilitates in astral projection; it is transformative and helps to tap into the subconscious; and, it can clarify, balance and protect one's aura.
