Imperial Jasper forms in nodules, usually with a chalky white covering that must be removed to reveal the jasper. Although there are many varieties, it is one of the highly prized jaspers on the market today. Colors range from reds and greens, to pinks, greys, tans and other earthy tones. Some of the finer Imperial Jasper is partly translucent and orb or "egg" patterns are highly desired in this material. One of the newer arrivals to the market are small nodules from Guadalajara, Mexico.
